Winner of the 2009 U.S. Open of Beach Volleyball, U.S. Olympic Festival Gold Medalist and Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) Champion of his hometown Hermosa Beach Open, Albert Hannemann has successfully played on the AVP circuit for the past 17 years. Known by his friends and fans as AL-B, Albert “is one of the most entertaining players in all of beach volleyball,” according to TV commentator Chris Marlowe. Because he wears his heart on his sleeve, Albert engages in exhilarating matches & adds outstanding entertainment value to every AVP event. Albert is known as “bar none, the biggest promoter of the sport.”

The 2009 season was an exciting year for Albert as he implemented two new programs for the AVP. Albert accepted the role as the official AVP Camp and Clinic Director. AL-B also created and served as Director for the AVP VIP Fan Experience, giving fans the opportunity to attend a clinic with the Pros, VIP tickets on event weekend, meet and greets with the players & Olympians, and received custom tour apparel. Albert will enhance this VIP Experience program in 2010 by hosting and promoting VIP events and parties during the AVP and Corona Wide Open Tournaments. Additionally, Albert is producing a courtside web television program for http://www.avp.com, featuring his events and sponsors and giving viewers an inside look into the life of a professional beach volleyball player.

Albert is the founder of Beachfest Events, a now flourishing marketing and events company parent to the hugely successful Volleyball Vacations. Volleyball Vacations (www.volleyballvacations.com) offers destination vacations with professional beach volleyball instruction, bringing adult players and families to the Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico, Greece, Brazil, France and California. While visiting these countries, AL-B donates sports equipment, volleyball net systems, and volleyballs to schools and youth centers to aid in the international growth of the sport. From the great success of Volleyball Vacations, AL-B enhanced his programs with his latest venture, GObeachfest (www.GObeachfest.com). Holding the same principal as Volleyball Vacations, AL-B’s GObeachfest events bring celebrities and a variety of sports professionals together to host sponsors & guests to share in this dynamic vacation experience. In November 2009, GObeachfest hosted over 600 participants on the Turks & Caicos Islands, making it the biggest sports vacation event in the world! GObeachfest, will be returning to the Turks & Caicos Islands next fall, November 7-14, 2010. This year’s program is enhanced with the “3 Day Triple Play In Paradise”, a high profile weekend event, featuring a Fashion Show, Gifting Suite and the Triple Play Celebrity/Pro/Am Volleyball, Poker and Golf Challenge.

“Mr. December” in Volleyball Magazine’s calendar, Albert is one of the most recognizable players in the world, not only because of his successful career, but also as a result of his dedication to personal appearances and independent business ventures. An innovative entrepreneur, Albert and partners are currently developing a multi-level sports, entertainment, and media marketing firm that will specialize in business consultation, event management, sponsorship activations and concierge services. Beachfest Events (BE) will provide a platform for Albert to bring the beach and professional beach volleyball to other marques sporting events. BE will produce exclusive volleyball events for over 700,000 college spring breakers in the month of March for Spring Break 2010 in Panama City, Florida. AL-B and BE also partner with Player Press and Playboy Golf in 2010 to host events during the Superbowl, Kentucky Derby, and Indianapolis 500.

PHILANTRHOPY As Vice-President and Program Director of the Dig4Kids Foundation (www.Dig4Kids.org), Albert invests a tremendous amount of his energy in promoting the sport to children. Dig4Kids is a non-profit organization focused on giving children from under-privileged communities an opportunity to excel in both school and volleyball. Albert also serves as a Big Brother with Big Brothers of L.A., and coaches volleyball skills to children in Los Angeles and at the Boys and Girls Club of Venice for the LA84 Foundation.

In addition to appearances on Baywatch, MTV, E! TV, Extra, and Inside Edition, Albert acted in a major role in the volleyball film “Beach Kings,” released in August of 2009. He has worked as a spokesperson and professional model for Calvin Klein, J-Crew, Polo, Hugo Boss and Versace. Furthermore, Albert has been featured in campaigns for Nautica, Abercrombie and Fitch and the GAP. Albert won a national championship at UCLA before transferring to the University of Hawaii, where he graduated Student Athlete of the Year and All-American. In his free time Albert also enjoys surfing, playing guitar, theatre, snowboarding, traveling and the martial arts.
